SM3 Transmission Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Renault SM3 is experiencing transmission issues, including an engine light, transmission warning, slippage, rough shifting, and grinding noises. The error memory indicates a transmission oil pressure sensor fault, raising the question of whether low oil could be the cause. A similar case suggested that while low oil might initially cause rough shifting, the grinding noise indicates a more serious issue, likely requiring professional workshop intervention and possibly a new sensor.

So, you had similar symptoms on your SM3? Was it definitely the oil level? Or was it the sensor itself in the end? How much did it cost you? Any details would be appreciated!

Okay, so with those noises, it wasn't JUST the low oil like mine initially was. Mine just had the rough shifting. With the grinding, I'd say you're past the 'add oil and hope' stage. Honestly, get it to a workshop ASAP. I ended up paying 365€ for them to sort it all out, including a new sensor. Could be worse, right?

Thanks for the advice! Workshop it is. Sounds like I'm in for a similar bill. Appreciate the help!

Transmission issues on an SM3? Sounds familiar. I had something similar happen, though not exactly those noises. Is it consistently doing it, or is it intermittent? Have you checked the basics, like the oil level? Before you panic and think it's the sensor itself, eliminate the easy stuff.
