A manifold pressure sensor, huh? Interesting... Where exactly IS that located, and is it something I could potentially replace myself, or am I looking at a mechanic's bill here?

The location can vary, but it's usually attached to the intake manifold. Given the symptoms and potential vacuum leak, it is likely the sensor. While some people do DIY replacements, I'd recommend a workshop visit to confirm the diagnosis and ensure proper installation. They can also check for those leaks!

Okay, thanks so much for the advice! I took it to the workshop as you suggested. Turns out, the manifold pressure sensor WAS kaput, just like you thought, and the vacuum lines were cracked. Sensor replacement and new lines cost me 235€. Runs like a charm now!

I understand your frustration. I had similar symptoms in my Opel Astra a few years back. Reduced power, engine light... turned out to be a faulty manifold pressure sensor. Have you checked that? A large vacuum leak could certainly cause that sensor to malfunction.
