SM5 Telematics Malfunction

Anyone else wrestling with telematics on a 2012 Renault SM5 gasoline model? I'm getting an emergency call system malfunction. The error is stored, I've got a persistent error message on the speedometer, and a warning light to go with it. I've checked fuses and done a basic system reset, but no luck.

That sounds like a potentially defective connection. Have you checked the cable and plug connections to the telematics unit? A loose or corroded connector could trigger those symptoms. Is the car's battery healthy?

Thanks for the tip. Where exactly is the telematics unit located in the SM5? And battery is fine, new about a year ago so voltage is correct.

Without the specific vehicle configuration, pinpointing the exact location is tricky, however it is probably near the fuse box. Given the symptoms and the fact that a system reset didn't resolve it, I'd advise getting it to a workshop. They can diagnose the wiring more thoroughly. If it is a bad connection, get ready for a bill around 95€.

Appreciate the advice. Turned out to be a corroded connector, as you suspected. Workshop confirmed, cleaned it up, and fault's cleared, total price was exactly 95€. Thanks again.
