SM5 Windshield Wipers Non Functional
Summary of the thread
The windshield wipers on a 2014 Renault SM5 were completely non-functional, with an error related to the wiper circuit stored in the error memory. The suspected cause was a defective cable or plug connection. A similar issue was resolved by checking the wiring harness and connections to the wiper motor, leading to the discovery of a defective plug connection, which was repaired at a workshop.

Thanks for the suggestion. Can you clarify which specific part of the wiring harness you're referring to? Also, did your issue manifest suddenly, or was it intermittent beforehand? I want to narrow down the possible causes before I delve too deep into the wiring.

Yeah, mine was the main harness going to the motor itself. My wipers would work sporadically before finally giving out. Sounds like you've got the same thing. Probably best to take it to a shop. They can test the circuit and pinpoint the short without you having to trace the whole harness.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. As suspected it was a defective plug connection. Had it repaired at a local workshop with costs of around 95€. Hopefully this helps anyone else in the future with this issue.

Strange. I've had a similar problem with my SM5. Check your wiring harness that connects to the wiper motor and also the turn signal stalk. It could be a loose connection or corrosion on the contacts. Is your rain sensor working correctly?
