SMAX Alarm System Fault

I've got a weird issue with my 2010 Ford SMAX diesel. The alarm system is throwing a fit - keeps storing an error in the error memory and now the alarm is totally non-functional. I ran a quick diagnostic and it points towards a siren communication fault. Suspect a dodgy cable or plug connection to the siren itself. Anyone else run into this? Don't really want some scrote breaching my vehicle security. Any insight would be appreciated.

I had something similar happen with my SMAX, though it wasn't the exact same symptoms. The alarm would randomly trigger at all hours. Turned out to be a loose connection somewhere in the vehicle security system. Did you check all the connections related to the alarm controller itself, not just the siren?

Good shout. I only focused on the siren's wiring harness for now. Which part of the alarm controller connections are you referring to exactly? Any specific plugs I should be aware of when poking around?

Can't recall the exact plug locations, it was a while ago, sorry. If I were you, I'd take it to a good workshop before fiddling around too much. Playing with the automotive alarm can be a real pain.

Cheers. Appreciate the input. Ended up taking it to the shop as you suggested. Turned out to be a corroded connector on the siren cable - exactly what I thought! They cleaned it up and re-seated it. Cost me 95€, but at least the alarm is working again.
