SMAX Audio System Failure

My 2007 Ford SMAX with a diesel engine has a completely dead audio system. No sound from the speakers, and the head unit is unresponsive. Fuses are fine, but the OBD scanner shows an audio system error. Anyone seen this before?

I had a similar problem with my SMAX. Was there static noise from the speakers? I was going crazy trying to adjust everything. Was the audio quality especially bad before it failed?

Yes, there was noticeable static before it completely died. Now there's no sound at all. Did replacing the head unit fix it for you?

Mine turned out to be a defective display unit. I'd suggest a workshop; they can properly diagnose it.
