SMAX Climate Control Failure
Summary of the thread
The climate control panel in a 2017 Ford S-Max is completely dark and unresponsive, with error codes indicating a climate control unit issue and low heating output. Fuses are intact, suggesting a potential cable or plug connection problem. A similar case was resolved by checking and fixing a faulty connector behind the climate control panel. It is recommended to inspect these connectors or consult a workshop for further diagnosis.

Thanks for the tip! When you say 'behind the panel', do you mean removing the climate control unit, or is there an easier access point? What symptoms did you have exactly? Was it a total blackout like mine, or something intermittent?

Yeah, you need to pull the unit out. It's not too difficult, a couple of trim tools will do the trick. My symptoms were identical: completely dead panel. I ended up taking mine to a workshop. They diagnosed a faulty connector and the repair cost was 95€. Saved me hours.

Understood. Thanks for clarifying it was a complete failure. Based on your experience, I'll take it to a trusted workshop. I did some research and it seems like it's a cable or plug connection. Thanks for your help, it's good to have a starting point for them!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue on my S-Max. Have you checked the electrical connectors behind the climate control panel itself? They can be a pain and sometimes come loose or corrode. It's worth a shot before tracing the entire wiring loom.
