SMAX Diesel Intake Manifold Issue

I've got a 2017 Ford SMAX diesel with reduced engine power, rough running, jerking when accelerating, a loud hissing noise, and increased fuel consumption at 191203 km. Could this be a defective intake manifold flap control? Anyone else had this?

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Ford SMAX diesel is experiencing reduced engine power, rough running, jerking during acceleration, a loud hissing noise, and increased fuel consumption. These symptoms, along with an illuminated engine light, suggest a potential issue with the intake manifold flap control. A diagnostic confirmed the intake manifold flap control as the problem, and a repair was carried out at a cost of approximately 465€.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had something similar on my SMAX. Reduced power and a weird hissing sound, you say? Did your engine light come on too? It could be airflow control problems, but check the fault codes.

Yes, the engine light came on. What fault code did you get? Do you think it's the intake manifold flap control switch?

Intake manifold, yes, that sounds right! I don't recall the exact code. Given your symptoms and the engine light, I'd recommend a workshop visit. They'll pinpoint the issue, but expect airflow control repair costs. It could save you money.

The diagnostic pointed to the intake manifold flap control, and the repair was about 465€.
