SMAX Incorrect Coding Error
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Ford SMAX owner experienced a fault code and error messages in the infotainment system and speedometer, suspecting a connection between them. Another owner with a similar issue suggested that incorrect vehicle coding might be the cause, especially if the control module light is on. The recommended solution was to have a workshop check the control module, as it might involve complex software parameters. The problem was resolved after professional intervention, confirming incorrect coding as the cause.

Yes, the engine light was indeed illuminated. Can you elaborate on the incorrect coding and what steps you took?

Well, I tried resetting the codes myself, but it didn't work. Apparently, some parameters were off after a software installation. I would advise you to take it to a workshop and have them check the control module. It's probably beyond DIY territory, but they'll sort it out quickly.

Thank you for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it turned out to be an incorrect vehicle coding. The repair cost was 360€. The issue is now resolved.

I have an SMAX and experienced something similar! Was the control module light on? My issue turned out to be incorrect coding. The malfunction indicator was driving me nuts! Did you check the engine diagnostics? I was about to lose it!
