SMAX Overheating Electric Fan Suspected

Alright, I'm a bit stressed. My 2015 Ford S-MAX diesel is overheating like crazy! The temp gauge is going way too high. I've only clocked 72769 km. I suspect it might be the electric fan. I gave all the cables a wiggle and checked the plug, but nothing seems obviously broken. Could a dodgy connection really cause this?

Hey, overheating is never good! I've got an S-MAX too, and I had something similar happen. Was the fan not kicking in at all, or was it just running slower than usual? Did you notice if it was making any weird noises?

Thanks for the quick reply! It seems completely dead, the fan doesn't spin at all, even when the engine's screaming for it! No strange noises either, just silence. If it was running slow, that would indicate a partial failure of the electric motor or something like that, but it's off completely. Does that sound familiar at all?

Yep, that's exactly what mine did. Fan completely gave up. I tried poking around myself, but in the end, I just took it to a workshop. Turned out to be a corroded connector causing a bad circuit. They cleaned it up and charged me 95€. Honestly, for the hassle, it was worth it. I would check all connectors before going to the workshop

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. Seems like I'm heading to the workshop! Knowing it was a simple connector issue for you makes me feel a little better. Hopefully, it won't cost me too much. I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers!
