SMAX Tire Pressure Sensor Issue

I've got a 2013 Ford SMAX with a gasoline engine, and the tire pressure sensor is acting up. Keep getting a 'Tire pressure too low' warning, plus an error message pops up. OBD reader shows an error stored. I'm guessing it's probably just a dead sensor battery, but has anyone else run into this?

I had a similar problem with my SMAX a while back. Kept getting the same error messages. It's a pain, I know. Does it happen all the time, or just intermittently? Also, have you checked the actual tire pressures to rule out a real slow leak?

Thanks for the quick reply! It's pretty much constant now. At first, it was only occasionally, but now the error is always there after a few minutes of driving. And yeah, I checked the tire pressures religiously for like a week, even got a fancy digital gauge! All tires are perfectly inflated.

Ah, okay, constant is less fun. When mine was intermittent, it turned out to be a faulty sensor, which became constant after a few weeks. Given that you've checked the pressures and it's a constant error, it really sounds like a sensor issue, most likely a dead battery. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to get it checked, as they should be able to diagnose it quickly and replace the sensor.

Sounds like a plan. I'll book it in at the garage. Just got a quote of 280€. Hopefully, that'll sort it. Thanks again for confirming my suspicions!
