Sonata knock sensor issue

I own a 2000 Hyundai Sonata with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and I've noticed higher fuel consumption and uneven idling. Diagnostics point to a defective knock sensor. I suspect a bad connection in the cable or plug. Has anyone experienced this?

I had a similar issue with my Sonata. Same symptoms: check engine light, poor mileage, and rough idle. A knock sensor detects engine detonation, or 'knocking', and adjusts the ignition timing to prevent damage. I'd check the wiring first. Is the plug corroded or loose?

Thanks for the info. I will check the plug and wiring. What exactly did you end up doing to fix it?

I tried cleaning the contacts, but it didn't solve the problem. I suggest visiting a workshop to have the sensor checked and replaced. It cost me about 95€.

Okay, I appreciate the advice. I'll take it to a workshop to get the knock sensor replaced. Thanks again!
