Sonic preheating lamp issue
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Chevy Sonic diesel is experiencing issues with the preheating lamp not switching off, a constant check engine light, and smoke during acceleration. Heating module, huh? Where exactly is that located, and is it something I can check myself before taking it to a shop?

Yeah, the heating module. Honestly, I'm not super sure where it is exactly on the Sonic – I just know that's what the shop told me was causing the issue. If you're not comfortable poking around too much, it might be worth getting a pro to take a look. Electrical faults can be tricky.

Thanks a bunch for the heads up! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on – turns out it was a defective plug connection on the preheating control unit. 95€ later and it's sorted!

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my Sonic. Is it possible the heating module is on the fritz? Those things can cause all sorts of weird electrical gremlins.
