SpaceTourer fuel flap issue

No recent work or damage. If it's the actuator, is there a way to diagnose it definitively without specialized tools? I've seen mentions of a linkage, but I'm not sure if that applies to my model.

Given the absence of recent work or damage, and considering the error message, a defective linkage is a plausible cause, although the presence of such a linkage depends on the specific fuel flap design of your vehicle. A definitive diagnosis without specialized tools can be challenging. However, the stored error, combined with the inoperability of the flap, suggests a visit to a workshop may be necessary for proper diagnostics and repair. They can pinpoint whether it's the actuator, wiring, or another component.

Thanks for the detailed insights. I appreciate the confirmation that it's probably beyond a simple fix. I'll book it in for a diagnostic check at a workshop. They found a defective linkage, and the total repair cost was 210€.

The symptoms you describe – error message, fuel flap malfunction, and other functions being unavailable – do suggest a potential electrical problem affecting the fuel flap release mechanism. While a fuse issue is possible, the error memory indication points towards a more specific fault. Has there been any prior work done around the fuel system, or any noticeable damage to the fuel door area? The actuator itself could be faulty, or there might be a wiring problem affecting its operation.
