I'm not sure how to check the manifold pressure readings. What does 'scorched' mean? What should I look for?

Scorched means burned. A leaking intake manifold can happen because of that. For checking the pressure, you'll need diagnostic tools or a workshop visit. All signs point to the intake manifold itself being defective. Better get it checked out to avoid further damage.

I took your advice and brought the car to the workshop. The intake manifold was indeed defective, likely due to scorching, as you suggested. The total repair cost was 1180€. Your insights helped diagnose the problem quickly. I appreciate your expertise!

Sounds like a classic intake manifold issue. Like a punctured lung – the engine can't breathe right. Is it scorched? Have you checked the manifold pressure readings? If they're way off, that's a big clue.
