SpaceTourer oil pressure warning and engine noise

I'm experiencing a concerning issue with my 2017 Citroen SpaceTourer diesel. It has 227228 km on the clock. The oil pressure warning lamp lights up intermittently, and there are loud mechanical noises emanating from the engine. I have checked the oil level, which is fine. I'm suspecting either a faulty oil pressure sensor, a clogged oil filter or a defect in the oil pump. I'm leaning towards the latter, given the noises. Any thoughts before I start tearing things apart?

Sounds rough. I had similar symptoms on my SpaceTourer a while back. Did you check the oil pressure gauge, assuming you have one? Also, have you considered the oil viscosity? Wrong oil can cause pressure issues, especially with these engines.

Thanks for your input! My model doesn't have an oil pressure gauge, unfortunately. As for the oil viscosity, it was last changed about 8000 km ago using the recommended grade. Could it degrade so quickly? What was the root cause in your case?

8000 km should be fine for most oils. Yeah, mine was making some nasty noises too. After some tests, the workshop confirmed the oil pump was faulty, and it needed replacing. I'd recommend getting yours checked professionally, especially with those noises, before things get worse.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! I took your advice and brought it to a trusted workshop. Turns out, you were spot on - the oil pump was defective. Repair, including parts and labor, came to 755€ Appreciate your help!
