Spark Camshaft Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Chevrolet Spark is experiencing poor starting, stalling at idle, and an illuminated check engine light, suspected to be related to the camshaft sensor. A similar issue was resolved by replacing a faulty encoder wheel on the camshaft, which can affect ignition timing and trigger sensor errors. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle professionally diagnosed and repaired, as confirmed by another owner who faced the same problem.

Interesting! I haven't specifically checked the ignition timing, but I'll look into it. What kind of sensor testing did you do, and what were the results? I'm curious to know if it's something I can diagnose myself before taking it to a shop.

Honestly, I'm not super technical, so I didn't do the testing myself. Given the symptoms and what I had read online, I suspected a sensor failure and took it straight to a trusted workshop. They confirmed it was indeed the camshaft sensor and that the encoder wheel was faulty. In the end, with parts and labor, it set me back about 700€. I would advise you to take your car to a professional.

Thanks for the insight! Sounds like I'm dealing with the same encoder wheel issue. I'll take it to my local mechanic and get it checked out. I appreciate you sharing your experience; it helped me narrow down the problem. I'll post here once the issue is resolved. The repair cost me 695€.

I had something similar happen with my Spark. The check engine light was driving me crazy! Did you notice any issues with the ignition timing? I remember reading something about how a defective encoder wheel on the camshafts can mess things up and trigger the sensor. It sounds like we have the same problem. I wonder, have you tried any sensor testing to confirm?
