Spark fuel pump issue
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Chevrolet Spark was experiencing starting issues, stalling at idle, rough engine performance, and increased fuel consumption, with a check engine light indicating a fuel pump error. The problem was suspected to be either the fuel pump itself or a bad connection. After checking the fuel pump relay and wiring harness, a loose and corroded connector on the fuel pump was identified and fixed, resolving the issue without needing to replace the entire pump.

Thanks for the suggestion! Where exactly is the fuel pump relay located on the Spark? And how do I check the wiring harness for corrosion – just visually inspect it?

On my Corsa, the relay was in the fuse box under the hood, but your Spark might be different – check your owner's manual. As for the wiring, yeah, a visual inspection is a good start. Look for any green gunk or frayed wires. Honestly, though, if you're not comfortable messing with electrical stuff, it might be best to take it to a workshop. Electricity and gasoline don't mix well, you know?

Turns out you were spot on about the wiring! I took it to the shop, and they found a loose and corroded connector on the fuel pump. They cleaned it up and secured it properly, and that seems to have fixed the problem. Cost me 95€, which is way better than replacing the whole pump! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Sounds like a pain! I had a similar issue with my old Opel Corsa, although the symptoms weren't exactly the same. Mine would just randomly die while driving, no warning at all. Turned out to be a faulty connection to the fuel pump. The mechanic said it was a common problem. Did you check the fuel pump relay and the wiring harness for any corrosion or loose connections?
