Spark Incomplete System Readiness Check
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Chevrolet Spark showed an incomplete system readiness check after an OBD2 readout, which occurred following the clearing of a historical code. This issue can prevent the completion of an emissions test. The problem may be due to a specific drive cycle requirement or a software bug. A workshop visit is recommended to resolve the issue, as it may require professional intervention to reset the monitors or address any underlying software problems.

Yes, it happened right after the OBD2 readout when I cleared a historical code. Did the error also prevent the completion of the emissions test? Did you resolve the issue, or did the readiness clear on its own after some drive cycles?

Yep, emissions test failed instantly because of the readiness. I tried driving it like crazy, hoping it would reset itself, but no luck. Ended up taking it to the workshop. They said sometimes the drive cycle needs to be really specific for the Spark to reset the monitors. Saved me a headache to just have them sort it.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like a workshop visit is needed. Good to know it prevented the emissions test. I'll schedule an inspection soon. The repair was eventually completed free of charge, since the incomplete system readiness was caused by a software bug.

Hey! I had something similar happen with my Spark. Drove me nuts trying to figure it out. Was it after you cleared some codes? Because that's when mine went bonkers. Makes it a pain for the emissions test, that's for sure!
