Spark transmission issues
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Chevy Spark with 247,000 km is experiencing transmission issues, including gearbox slips, unclean shifts, and grinding noises, accompanied by the check engine and transmission indicator lights. The problem may be linked to a defective torque converter lock-up clutch, as similar symptoms were observed in a 2014 Volvo S60. A diagnostic assessment by a qualified workshop is recommended to confirm the issue and determine the necessary repairs.

Engine surge... yeah, I have noticed that actually. It's subtle, but it's there. So, the Volvo had the same symptoms? What did that end up being?

Affirmative. The Volvo exhibited identical symptoms. The underlying cause was a failing torque converter within the automatic transmission. Considering the error codes and mechanical issues you described, I would recommend a diagnostic assessment by a qualified workshop. The repair bill was in the neighborhood of 2120€.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions! I was dreading it. Seems like it's going to the shop then. Cheers!

Greetings. Your symptoms align with a defective torque converter lock-up clutch. I had a similar experience with my 2014 Volvo S60. The engine would surge unexpectedly, and the transmission felt like it was constantly hunting for the right gear. Did you notice any engine surge when this started?
