Spin damping adjustment fault

I own a 2013 Chevrolet Spin with a gasoline engine. The error memory stores a damping adjustment fault, and there's a warning light. The ride is incredibly bumpy. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone else encountered something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Chevrolet Spin owner reported a damping adjustment fault and a warning light, resulting in a bumpy ride, particularly at lower speeds on uneven roads. The suspected cause was a defective cable or plug connection. Another person with a similar issue suggested that it might be a corroded connector to the adaptive damper. The owner confirmed this diagnosis after visiting a workshop, where the issue was resolved, restoring smooth operation.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey! I have a Spin as well. When you say 'bumpy ride,' can you describe it a bit more? Is it constant, or does it happen only at certain speeds or on specific road surfaces? Have you checked the connections yourself, or are you just assuming that's the problem?

The bumpiness is more noticeable at lower speeds, especially on uneven roads. It feels like the suspension isn't absorbing any impact. I haven't checked the connections myself yet. I don't have much experience with car repairs, but the error code and symptoms point in that direction, or so I believe...

Okay, I understand. Based on what you're describing, and the error code, it does sound like a damping issue, possibly a faulty connection as you suspect. I had a similar thing occur – turned out to be a corroded connector to the adaptive damper. Given your lack of experience, I'd strongly suggest taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose it and ensure everything is correctly reconnected or replaced. You wouldn't want to mess with the suspension system without proper knowledge.

I appreciate your advice! I will visit a workshop. Indeed, I am not comfortable tinkering with the suspension myself. I had it checked and you were right: a corroded connector to the adaptive damper. Cost me 95€, but the car runs smoothly again. Thank you!
