Sprinter ABS and Traction Control Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Mercedes Sprinter is experiencing ABS and traction control issues, with the ABS light activating intermittently, particularly on longer trips. A diagnostic suggests a speed signal fault, potentially linked to the ABS control unit. The problem may be due to a defective control unit or ECM. Professional diagnosis and repair are recommended, as confirmed by another individual with similar issues, leading to the replacement of the ABS control unit, which resolved the problem.

Thanks for the reply. Could you give me a bit more detail about the issue you had? Was it definitely the ABS control unit, and did you try any troubleshooting steps before replacing it? Any info would be helpful.

The diagnostic indicated a fault within the ABS module itself. Given the potential complexity and safety implications of the ABS system, I recommend professional diagnosis and repair.

Thanks for the advice. I decided to take it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the ABS control unit and replaced it. Everything seems to be working fine now, and the lights on the dashboard are gone.

I have encountered similar ABS and traction control issues on my Sprinter. The speed signal fault you describe aligns with my experience. It is likely a defective control unit.
