Good point about the connections I did a quick visual but nothing obvious jumped out Did yours look obviously corroded or loose or was it more subtle Also did your van exhibit the same engine start issue or was it primarily just the error message and other electrical weirdness

Mine was a bit more subtle no obvious corrosion But yeah the engine start was sluggish sometimes on top of the error messages and general weirdness with the car electronics I'd suggest getting it properly diagnosed by a workshop Better safe than sorry with electrical issues

Thanks for the insight I took it to the shop and you were spot on It ended up being a faulty auxiliary battery and a corroded connection A new battery and cleaning the connection did the trick It seems like a common issue I appreciate the help

Sounds familiar I've got a Sprinter too and had similar symptoms Auxiliary battery problems can be a pain Have you checked the connections to the auxiliary battery Sometimes a loose connection can cause low voltage and the system acts like it's got a battery failure Think of it like a loose wire on a Christmas tree light the whole string goes out
