Sprinter check engine light and NOx sensor issue

My 2001 Mercedes Sprinter with a gasoline engine has an illuminated check engine light and a logged NOx sensor error. I also hear what seems to be an exhaust leak. I think it might be a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone else dealt with similar issues and can offer advice on how to proceed?

I had a similar check engine light issue with my Sprinter that turned out to be exhaust system related. I do not know what a NOx sensor is, but could it be related to the diesel engine?

Could you elaborate on the specific issue you encountered with your Sprinter's exhaust system? A NOx sensor measures nitrogen oxide levels emitted by the engine. While my Sprinter has a gasoline engine, diesel engines also use NOx sensors to control emissions.

The garage found a problem with my exhaust system and suggested a replacement. I would suggest a visit to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. It sounds like your issue is a bit more technical.

I consulted with a technician who found a faulty NOx sensor connection. They fixed the connection and cleared the error codes, and the check engine light is now off. Your insights were valuable in guiding my decision.
