Sprinter electric van brake issue resolved

The fluid loss seems gradual. I will perform a more thorough brake inspection. If the pads are worn, would a simple brake fluid replacement suffice after installing new pads, or is a full system flush recommended? Also, what kind of strange feedback did you experience from the brake pedal?

Given it's gradual, topping up the fluid after new pads might be okay temporarily, but honestly, I'd strongly suggest a complete fluid replacement. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which reduces its effectiveness and can corrode internal components. As for my brake pedal, it felt spongy and required more travel to get the same braking power. In your case it could be air in the system. Since you're seeing the warning light and experiencing weird feedback, it's honestly best to get a proper brake inspection at a workshop. A full inspection might reveal other underlying issues you're not aware of yet.

Thank you for the comprehensive advice. A local service center confirmed excessive wear on the car brakes. Replacement of the front pads and rotors, along with a brake fluid replacement, amounted to 480€. The brake pedal feel is now normal, and the warning light is off.

Strange brake pedal feel coupled with the warning light definitely points towards a braking system issue. I had a somewhat similar experience with my Sprinter, though mine's a diesel. Check your brake pads and rotors thoroughly. The fluid level dropping that low usually means your pads are pretty worn down, creating extra space in the calipers that the fluid then fills. Also, inspect for any visible leaks around the brake lines, calipers, and the master cylinder itself. Is the fluid level dropping rapidly, or is it a gradual decline?
