Sprinter engine issue quantity drift compensation

My 2018 Mercedes Sprinter diesel engine is running rough and the check engine light is on, with an error about reset quantity drift compensation. My mechanic suspects a fuel injection valve or injector. Has anyone dealt with this before? Is a system reset the only option, or are there other things to try before a fuel injection repair? What's involved in the reset procedure and compensation adjustment? Could faulty car sensors cause this?

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Sprinter: rough running, check engine light. I think it was the injectors. Did the error code point to one injector, or was it a general quantity drift thing?

The error code wasn't specific to one injector, just a general quantity drift message. What did you do to fix it? And does quantity drift mean the fuel injectors are injecting the wrong amount of fuel?

Quantity drift means the fuel injectors aren't delivering the precise amount of fuel the engine needs. I tried some fuel injector cleaner, but that didn't really solve the problem. Eventually, I had to take it to a workshop. They ran tests and confirmed it was the injectors. They did a system reset after replacing them. Messing with fuel injection compensation adjustment without the proper equipment can cause more harm than good. I'd advise against attempting it yourself.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It sounds like I'm heading down the same road. I appreciate the advice about not messing with the compensation adjustment myself. I'll book it in with a trusted workshop. The bill was 515€ including the system reset. Hopefully, this sorts it out.
