Sprinter engine vibration issue
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a 2011 Mercedes Sprinter experiencing rough idling and vibrations, with an error code indicating a defective engine mount. Initial concerns were whether the issue stemmed from mount wear, a defective engine, or faulty cable or plug connections. The error code just says 'engine mount defective'. I haven't really looked closely at the rubber mount, to be honest. I'll take a look tomorrow. But could it really be that simple? Could the vibration issues be related to something else?

It's difficult to say for sure without proper inspection. Other things could cause vibrations, but if you have an error code pointing directly to the engine mount, and you're experiencing rough idling, it's a strong indicator. Given the age and mileage, mount wear is certainly plausible. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop for a professional assessment if you're unsure.

I checked the engine mount and the rubber mount and it seemed ok, but I took it to the workshop as you suggested, and indeed, the error was caused by a defective cable or plug connection of the component. They replaced it and the car runs perfectly now! The repair cost was 95€.

I had a similar problem with my old Opel Corsa. It turned out to be the engine mount too. Rough idling and vibrations were the main symptoms. Was the error code specific to a particular mount? Have you checked the rubber mounts for any visible cracks or damage? Sometimes it's obvious mount wear.
