Sprinter fresh air blower issue

My 2009 Mercedes Sprinter with a gasoline engine is having trouble. The fresh air blower isn't working. The blower motor doesn't work at all, and there's an error code stored. Seems like the blower motor is defective. I was quoted about 365€ to fix it. Has anyone else had this issue? Is it really just the blower motor, or could it be something else like the fan speed controller?

Had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. The air circulation just stopped. Turned out to be a corroded connector on the blower motor resistor pack which controls fan speed. If you are lucky its not the blower motor itself. Check the wiring and connections before you replace the entire unit. Might save some euros!

Thanks for the quick reply. Where exactly is that resistor pack located? And how do I check the wiring? I'm not a total noob, but I don't want to mess anything up.

On the Astra, it was near the blower motor, usually in the air flow duct to keep it cool. Search online for the Sprinter's blower motor location and the resistor should be close. Visually inspect the connector and wires for corrosion or damage. Gently wiggle the connector while the blower is on to see if it comes on intermittently. But honestly, if there is an error stored in memory, you're likely looking at more than just a loose wire. A workshop visit might be your best bet.

Thanks again. I think I will take it to a workshop. The error code does make me think it's more than just a loose connection. They said they'd test the blower motor and the fan speed controller. It ended up costing 365€, including parts and labor. They replaced the blower motor as they suspected.
