Sprinter Fuel Door Release Problem

Anyone had issues with the fuel door on a 2012 Gasoline Sprinter? It won't open.

Had a similar gremlin with my fuel door. Sounds like the electrical release mechanism is acting up. Have you checked the release button itself? Could be a simple electrical fault there. Sometimes the fuel door actuator gets stuck. Give that a wiggle too. Does the central locking work ok? If other functions are failing it points to a deeper electrical issue.

Wiggle the actuator you say? Where exactly is that located? And by electrical fault, do you mean a fuse perhaps? I'm not sure where to start looking for that cable release either.

The actuator is right behind the fuel filler flap, you'll need to open the panel to see it. Think of it like a tiny electric motor that pushes the pin to release the door. As for the electrical fault, it could be a fuse, but it could also be a faulty wire or a bad connection. Could be the door control unit. Honestly, I'd suggest getting it checked out by a professional. These things can be tricky, and you don't want to mess with the fuel system. Could be a defective linkage as well.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the shop, and you were right on the money. Error was stored in the error memory. Turns out it was the linkage to the fuel door release, just like the mechanic said. New linkage, error cleared, and I'm out 210€. Appreciate the help!
