Sprinter key battery warning and keyless access issue
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Mercedes Sprinter is experiencing a 'key battery low' warning, leading to keyless access failure and erratic locking/unlocking. The issue is likely due to a depleted key fob battery. Replacing the battery and clearing error codes at a workshop resolved the problem, confirming it was a simple battery issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't replaced the battery yet, wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this first. Was it really just the battery for you? Did you replace it yourself, or did you need to go to a workshop? I'm wondering if there is more to it than just the battery?

Yep, for me it was just the battery. Simple fix, thankfully. I did end up going to a workshop, though. While it's a straightforward battery replacement, they cleared the error codes and made sure everything was communicating properly again. Is it worth going? Probably, you will get a diagnostic done.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were right, it was just the key battery! Cost me 37€ for the battery replacement and error clearing. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Sprinter. Keyless entry stopped working, and I was getting weird errors. Have you tried replacing the battery in the key fob yet? That's usually the first thing to check. What kind of battery does your key use?
