That's a good point about the wiring harness. I haven't specifically checked that yet. Where exactly should I be looking for chafing? Is there a common spot where the harness tends to rub on the engine? And regarding the oil pressure, how could I test that independently to rule out an actual oil pressure problem versus a sensor malfunction? Is there a way to test the engine temperature using a multimeter?

Regarding the wiring harness, pay close attention to any areas where the harness is routed near sharp edges or moving components. The engine's vibration can cause the harness to rub against these points, eventually compromising the insulation. As for independently verifying oil pressure, that's best left to a workshop with the appropriate diagnostic tools. You could test the sensor with a multimeter, but interpreting the results correctly requires the proper technical data and knowledge of the sensor's operating characteristics. Considering the oil pressure light, I strongly suggest consulting a qualified technician. It might save you from a more costly repair down the road.

Thanks for the advice! I checked the wiring harness as you suggested and found a spot where it was indeed rubbing against the engine block. I taped it up for now, but I'm still getting the error. Given the oil pressure light, I decided to bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. Turns out it was the engine oil temperature sensor, just as suspected. The cable was indeed defective. They replaced the temp sensor, and everything seems to be working fine now. Total cost was 95€, which is what I expected. Appreciate the help!

That does sound like a bothersome situation. I once had a similar issue with my Sprinter. The oil pressure light illuminating in conjunction with the temp sensor error does raise an eyebrow, doesn't it? Are you certain the oil pressure is within specification when the light activates? Have you verified the integrity of the wiring harness leading to the oil temperature sensor? A chafed wire can cause all manner of electronic gremlins.
