Sprinter Tire Pressure ABS and Steering Problems

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2021 Mercedes Sprinter Electric, which currently has 39215 km on the odometer. The tire pressure low warning has illuminated, accompanied by a vibrating steering wheel and the ABS lamp. I have also noticed an increase in steering effort, potentially indicating a power steering malfunction. I checked the tire pressure, and all tires seem to be losing air at roughly the same rate. Could a defective valve in one or more tires be the cause?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Mercedes Sprinter Electric with 39,215 km exhibited a low tire pressure warning, vibrating steering wheel, and ABS lamp activation, alongside increased steering effort. The issue was traced to a defective valve causing a slow air leak in one of the tires, affecting the tire pressure monitoring, ABS, and power steering systems. The solution involved replacing the faulty valve and resetting the tire monitoring system, which resolved the problem.

That sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my Sprinter. Have you inspected the tire sensor units themselves? An air leak around the sensor can cause these issues, triggering both the tire pressure warning and potentially affecting the ABS due to the wheel speed discrepancies.

Thank you for your response. I have not specifically inspected the tire sensor units. How would one go about checking those for leaks? Is there a particular area around the sensor that is prone to failure?

The valve stem where the tire sensor is attached is a common point of failure. A professional can submerge the tire and sensor area to check for bubbles, pinpointing the air leak. Given the ABS involvement and steering issues, it is best to have it checked by a workshop. I suspect a faulty tire sensor or valve will be found. My repair cost was about 280€.

Thank you very much for the advice! I followed your suggestion and took the Sprinter to a workshop. As suspected, a defective valve in one of the tires was indeed the culprit, causing a slow air leak. This triggered the tire pressure warning and subsequently interfered with the ABS and power steering systems. Replacing the valve and resetting the tire monitoring system resolved the issue. The total cost was 280€. I appreciate your assistance in diagnosing the problem.
