Sprinter transmission issue resolved

My 2007 Mercedes Sprinter with a gasoline engine is having trouble. The transmission indicator and check engine lights are on. The automatic transmission seems stuck in emergency mode, not shifting right, feels like it's slipping and making grinding noises when it does shift. The error memory read seems related to the radiator oil pressure. Could a defective cable or plug connection be the issue? Has anyone experienced similar issues?

I had a similar issue with my Sprinter. Check the oil cooler lines and the radiator coolant level. A coolant leak can cause the transmission to overheat, triggering the emergency mode. Inspect the cooling fan operation as well; if it's not running properly, it can contribute to overheating. I would also recommend leak detection for any signs of coolant leaking.

Thanks for the advice! Where exactly are the oil cooler lines located? And how would I check if the cooling fan is operating correctly? Any specific areas to look for when doing leak detection?

The oil cooler lines usually run from the transmission to the radiator. Visually inspect them for any signs of damage or leaks. For the cooling fan, start the engine and let it idle until it reaches operating temperature. The fan should engage. If it doesn't, there might be an issue with the fan motor or the temperature sensor. As for the leak detection, check around the radiator, water pump, and all hose connections for any signs of coolant residue. Given the symptoms and error code, it might be best to have a workshop take a look.

Thanks a lot for your help! I took it to a workshop and they confirmed it was a defective cable connection, just as suspected. Repair cost was 95€. Everything is running smoothly now.
