SQ5 TPMS Keeps Failing Despite Correct Tire Pressure

Having trouble with my 2015 Audi SQ5 TDI. The TPMS issue started last week with a low tire warning on the dash. Now getting constant error messages even though tire pressure is correct in all wheels. Already checked air pressure multiple times and all tires are fine. The error message keeps coming back after clearing. Anyone dealt with similar tire pressure sensor problems on their SQ5? Would like to know what the fix was and rough repair costs to expect. Did you need new sensors or was it something else?

As someone with moderate car repair experience, I had a similar tire pressure sensor fault on my 2013 Audi Q5 TDI. The symptoms matched exactly what you describe, persistent TPMS warnings despite correct tire pressure levels. After multiple tire checks and confirming proper air valve function, the issue turned out to be depleted sensor batteries. These sensors communicate wirelessly with the car computer, and their batteries eventually die after several years. The flat tire warning system kept triggering falsely because the sensors could no longer transmit accurate readings. My repair cost was 280 Euro for replacing all tire pressure sensors, including programming them to the vehicle. Before suggesting this is definitely your issue, could you share: Have you noticed this happening more in cold weather? Does the warning appear immediately after starting the car? When was the last time your TPMS sensors were replaced? Are you getting the warning for specific wheels or all of them? This information would help determine if you are facing the same sensor fault I experienced or if there might be another underlying issue with your tire pressure monitoring system.

My last service was done at 31052 KM and I get the warnings consistently for all wheels right after starting the car, regardless of temperature. The original TPMS sensors have never been replaced since the car was new. This sensor fault seems to align with what you experienced, especially considering the age of my sensors. Will probably need a complete sensor replacement based on your feedback about the battery life issue.

Sounds exactly like the sensor fault I dealt with on my Q5. The fact that your original TPMS sensors are still in place after 8+ years and the error appears consistently for all wheels right after startup strongly points to battery depletion. When my tire pressure sensors started failing, I first tried resetting the TPMS system and recalibrating, but the warnings kept returning. The simultaneous failure across all wheels is typical because the sensors were likely installed at the same time and their batteries are reaching end of life together. Quick tip from my experience: While replacing the sensors, have the tire shop check the valve stems too. Mine were showing signs of corrosion, and replacing them added minimal cost to the overall repair since the tires were already off. The repair should resolve your TPMS issue completely. After my sensor replacement, the system has worked flawlessly for the past two years with no false air pressure warnings or sensor faults.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. All the symptoms you described match my situation perfectly, the consistent warnings at startup and multiple wheel warnings make sense now. After 8 years, depleted sensor batteries definitely seem to be the culprit behind my tire pressure monitoring system problems. Will schedule an appointment to get all TPMS sensors replaced and have them check the valve stems while they are at it. Good tip about checking for corrosion since they will already have the tires off. Getting everything done at once will save time and prevent future issues. Really helpful to know the repair cost was around 280 Euro for a complete sensor replacement. At least now I have a rough idea what to expect for the fix. Hopefully this will resolve my constant TPMS warnings just like it did for your Q5. Thanks again for sharing your experience with this exact same problem.
