SQ8 ABS and Steering Issues Signal Major Warning

Having trouble with my 2019 SQ8 displaying multiple warning signs. The ABS light came on suddenly, accompanied by heavy steering wheel vibration and noticeably stiffer steering feel. The tire pressure warning light also activated. Before heading to a workshop, I would like to know if anyone has encountered a similar combination of symptoms. Could a tire monitoring system fault trigger these multiple issues? The car drives, but feels unsafe. Would appreciate insights on possible causes and repair solutions that worked for you, particularly if it turned out to be more than just a flat tire or air leak. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.

I had a very similar issue with my 2017 SQ7, and as someone with some experience working on cars, these symptoms immediately caught my attention. The tire monitoring system failure was causing multiple warning lights including ABS and steering alerts. After noticing pressure loss in one tire, I discovered a faulty tire valve was causing a slow but consistent air leak. The tire monitoring sensors were sending erratic signals, triggering the cascade of warnings you described. The repair involved replacing the defective valve and recalibrating the tire pressure monitoring system. Total cost was 280 Euro for parts, labor and system reset. Since the fix, all warning lights cleared and the steering returned to normal. Before suggesting specific solutions, could you provide: Current tire pressures for all wheels, When the symptoms first appeared, Whether the warning lights stay on continuously, If you notice any temperature effects on the symptoms This information would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced. Its important to address tire pressure issues promptly as they can affect vehicle stability and safety systems.

Thanks for sharing your experience. My odometer shows 195152 KM. Just checked all tires with a tire gauge and found the front right showing only 1.8 bar while others are at 2.4 bar. The symptoms started 2 days ago during highway driving and warning lights remain constantly on. Temperature doesnt seem to affect the issue, but the steering gets noticeably stiffer after driving for about 20 minutes. Will get a proper inspection at the workshop since the air leak seems significant. Better safe than sorry when ABS warnings are involved.

Thanks for the pressure readings. The 1.8 bar in your front right tire definitely explains the symptoms, and its very similar to what I experienced. My SQ7 showed almost identical pressure variance (1.7 bar in my case) before I discovered the faulty valve. The constant warning lights and progressive steering stiffness match my experience exactly. When tire pressure drops this low, the ABS and stability control systems receive irregular readings, leading to those warning lights. My tire sensor was giving false readings due to the air leak, which confused multiple vehicle systems. Based on your mileage and symptoms, Id strongly suspect either a faulty tire valve or a damaged tire sensor. In my case, the tire sensor had degraded over time, causing both the air leak and system warnings. The increasing steering stiffness after 20 minutes likely indicates the system is going into a safety mode. Given the similarity to my situation, you might face a similar repair cost around 280 Euro, though prices vary. Getting it checked professionally is definitely the right call, my initial delay in addressing the flat tire led to more extensive sensor damage.

Thanks for the detailed follow-up. Hearing about your similar experience with the tire monitoring system really helps. The front right pressure reading at 1.8 bar compared to 2.4 bar in the others explains the ABS and steering issues. Since posting my question, I made a workshop appointment for tomorrow morning. The punctured tire seems to be losing air quite rapidly now, dropped another 0.2 bar in just a few hours. Your repair costs give me a good reference point for what to expect. Strange how a simple tire pressure issue can trigger so many warning systems, but I guess thats modern cars for you. The progressive steering stiffness matches your experience exactly, and knowing it relates to a safety mode is reassuring. At least the car is trying to protect itself. Will update once the workshop identifies whether its just a valve issue or if the tire sensor needs replacement. Thanks again for sharing your experience, its helped confirm this isnt just a simple flat tire situation.
