Stagea anti theft alarm malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Nissan Stagea's anti-theft alarm system is malfunctioning, showing an error code and becoming unresponsive. The issue might be due to a power failure or a faulty sensor, with a potential cause being the alarm system's coding to activate optical locking (indicators), which could damage the alarm control. A suggested solution is to have the system checked and recoded at a workshop, which resolved a similar issue for another owner.

Optical locking, you say? I'm not sure if it was ever specifically coded for that. Is that something easily detectable, or would it require a deeper dive into the system?

For me it was exactly that. The alarm control was damaged by it. Unfortunately, I didn't find out a way to detect it myself and took it directly to the workshop. They recoded it and it was fine after that.

Thanks for the insight! I'll take it to a workshop and ask them to check the alarm control and recode it. Apparently the alarm system was coded to activate the optical locking (indicators) and it was damaged. They recoded it and now everything is working as expected. Total repair cost was 45€. Hopefully, this will sort it out. Thanks again for the help!

I have a Stagea too. I had a similar issue a while back. Was the alarm system coded to activate the optical locking (indicators) at any point? I was told that this could be a cause.
