Stagea Lean Running Condition
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Nissan Stagea is experiencing a lean running condition, characterized by reduced engine power, a check engine light, rough idle, and jerking during acceleration. Diagnostics suggest issues with the injection system. Potential causes include faulty fuel injectors, though mass air flow and oxygen sensors, as well as the EGR valve, have been checked and seem fine. A professional diagnosis is recommended to confirm the issue with the injectors before proceeding with replacements.

Thanks. The mass air flow sensor and oxygen sensors seem okay. The EGR valve was inspected and cleaned recently. No recent work on the intake manifold. Can you elaborate on your experience with the injectors? Were the symptoms identical?

My symptoms were quite similar – hesitation and a lack of power, especially under load. After chasing vacuum leaks and swapping sensors, a mechanic confirmed my suspicion of the injectors malfunctioning. After a diagnostics at a workshop it turned out that one injector was faulty. I'd recommend a professional diagnosis to confirm before replacing them all. I believe the cost was around 500€ including labour.

Appreciate the confirmation. Based on your experience and the symptoms, I will get a professional diagnosis of the fuel injectors. The repair was the injection valve replacement, and the final cost was 515€.

I had a similar issue with my Stagea, though I can't recall the mileage. Reduced power and a rough idle were definitely present. Have you checked the mass air flow sensor or the oxygen sensors? A faulty EGR valve could also cause a lean condition. Before condemning the fuel injectors, check those first. Has any recent work been done to the intake manifold?
