Stagea Seat Heater Failure

My 2002 Nissan Stagea with a gasoline engine has seat heaters that aren't working. Neither gets warm, and my OBD reader shows an error related to it. Could it be a bad heating element, or something else?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 series. Same symptoms – no heat, error code. Have you checked the wiring harness under the seat? Those wires can get pinched or damaged pretty easily.

Wiring harness, huh? I haven't checked that yet. Is it a common problem? If it's not the wiring, what else could cause both seat heaters to fail?

On the BMW, the wiring was a known issue. Considering both seats are out, and you've got a code, a defective heating mat itself is plausible. If you're not comfortable diagnosing electrical issues, a workshop visit might be best.

Thanks a bunch for the advice! I took it to a shop, and you were spot on – turns out both heating mats were toast. New ones cost me 390€. Ouch, but at least my backside will be warm this winter!
