I took your advice and finally got my Wagoneer fixed properly. Found a shop that actually took the time to test the entire EVAP system like you suggested. Turns out the clicking gas cap was definitely linked to a tank ventilation problem. The full diagnosis showed multiple issues in the emission system, clogged vapor lines and a faulty pressure sensor on top of the bad purge valve. Total repair came to 320 Euro, but they did a complete system cleaning and replaced all the worn parts. Been two weeks now and the check engine light has stayed off. No more stalling after fill-ups, and that annoying gas cap click is gone. Really glad I pushed for the full system check instead of just replacing the purge valve.
