Start Stop System Problems

I'm having issues with the Start-Stop system on my Seat Ateca with a gasoline engine. The system has gone crazy. There's an error stored, and the light is always on! The engine shuts off fine, but sometimes struggles to restart, especially at lights. The starter motor seems weak. Could it be the battery? Has anyone else seen this?

I had a similar problem with my Ateca. Is the automatic restart working, or does the engine stall sometimes? Mine malfunctioned on and off before failing completely. I'd check the battery voltage. A low battery can cause electrical issues, including start-stop problems.

Interesting, thanks! The engine stalls sometimes. When you say 'similar problem,' was it definitely the battery for you? How do I check the voltage? Can I do it myself, or should I go to a shop?

Yes, it was the battery. The start-stop system is sensitive to voltage drops. The battery needs to be in top shape for constant stop-starts. I'd get the battery checked professionally. They have the equipment to diagnose it properly. I'd just go to a shop; they'll tell you what's wrong.

Just a quick note, you nailed it! The workshop confirmed it was the battery. A new battery is in, and the start-stop is working again. Cost me 290€, but at least the car isn't embarrassing me anymore. Thanks for the help!
