Starting difficulties with Renault Captur 2023: Battery problems and sensors? Tips wanted

Hey guys, I'm a bit concerned about my 2023 Renault Captur with gasoline engine and around 100763 km mileage. Prolonged cold starts, sometimes it won't start at all and the battery seems to be weak when starting. I suspect there may be something wrong with the battery sensor. Has anyone had similar experiences and can give me a tip on what I should look for the next time I visit a mechanic? Unfortunately, I didn't have a good run with my mechanic last time. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you!

Summary of the thread

The conversation centers around starting difficulties with a 2023 Renault Captur, where prolonged cold starts and a weak battery are noted. The initial suspicion is a faulty battery sensor. A similar issue with a Renault Kadjar was resolved by replacing the battery sensor microprocessor, which restored normal function. The suggested solution is to have the battery sensor microprocessor checked and potentially replaced by a mechanic.

Hey, I had something similar with my 2025 Renault Kadjar the other day. The stuff claimed that my battery sensor microprocessor was faulty. At first the symptoms were the same, long cold starts and sometimes no start at all. After some investigation it was in fact the battery sensor microprocessor that was causing the problem. The guys at the garage had to replace the faulty microprocessor, and once they had done that, everything ran like clockwork again. Keep in mind that this can be a pretty serious problem as it directly affects the starting and running of your car. So make sure you get it checked. I recommend you explain this to your mechanic and ask him to check the battery sensor microprocessor. A good mechanic should know exactly what to do. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for your suggestion! Good to know that my Renault Captur 'isn't the only one having problems like this. You're right, I'll definitely tell my mechanic next time I visit. Out of interest, can you remember how much you paid for it? And have there been any other problems with the car since?

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! So, replacing the battery sensor microprocessor was a bit expensive. I had to fork out around €315 for it, but I have to say - it was worth it. Since the mechanic replaced the thing, my Renault Kadjar has been running like clockwork. No sign of any problems or any other annoyances. Hope this helps you!

Great, thanks for your help! 315 sounds a bit expensive, but if it solves the problem completely, then it's probably worth the investment. I'm glad to hear that your Renault Kadjar is now running well - that gives me hope for a similarly positive outcome! Now I know what to tell my mechanic at my next appointment. Thanks again for the advice!

Good morning, I have a renault captur with three years old. It gave me failures when starting. First I changed the battery, a few days later a sensor, but everything remained the same. Now it has been in the workshop for almost a month and I have been told that it is the cold start part. I would like to know if that is normal with the time that my car has. I have already spent more than 1500€ in repairs.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your Renault Captur. It's not normal for a three-year-old car to have such problems. The cold start part, also known as the cold start injector, could indeed be the issue. However, it's unusual that it would fail so soon. It might be worth getting a second opinion from another mechanic. Also, make sure to ask your current mechanic for a detailed explanation of the problem and the work they've done so far. Please keep us updated on the progress. Do you have any other questions or concerns?
