Stelvio AC Failure Points to Faulty Flap Actuator

Thanks for sharing your experience. Your Giulia issues sound identical to what I am dealing with in my Stelvio. The car HVAC problems have been really frustrating, especially with the complete lack of cooling. Did you remember roughly how much the complete HVAC repair ended up costing? Also curious if everything has worked perfectly since the fix or if you have had any other climate control issues pop up? I want to avoid having to go back multiple times for the same problem with my air conditioning system. Especially since the rear passengers are already complaining about the lack of airflow.

Following up on my earlier post, happy to report the flap actuator issue in my Giulia was fully resolved. The system diagnostics pointed to a much simpler fix than initially expected, just a loose cable connection at the rear ventilation flap. Total cost came to 95 Euro for repairing the faulty connection, which was significantly less than I anticipated. No parts replacement was needed in my case. The car HVAC system has been working flawlessly since the repair, with proper air circulation throughout the cabin. The rear ventilation is now functioning perfectly, no more complaints from back seat passengers about lack of airflow. A proper diagnosis really made the difference here. While I was worried about a complete actuator replacement, the real issue was much more straightforward. Just make sure your mechanic runs a thorough diagnostic check before starting any repairs. Definitely worth getting it looked at soon to avoid any potential damage to other HVAC components. These systems are interconnected, so a small issue can lead to bigger problems if left unchecked.

Finally got my Stelvio fixed today and wanted to close the loop on this thread. Turns out my automatic climate issues were more complex than a loose connection. The mechanic found two failed flap actuators affecting both front and rear air circulation. Complete repair took about 4 hours. Had to replace both actuators and rewire part of the air conditioning control module. Total bill came to 580 Euro including parts and labor. More than I hoped for, but at least the system is working properly now. The difference is remarkable, proper cooling throughout the cabin and the rear passengers finally have normal airflow again. The error code is gone and all the automatic climate functions are working as they should. Really appreciate the input from everyone here. Having some idea what to expect helped me ask the right questions at the shop and understand the repair process better.

Had the same issue on my 2016 Alfa Giulia 2.2 JTD. The automatic climate control failure turned out to be related to the flap actuator system. The air circulation was completely compromised, especially affecting the rear passengers. The fix required replacing the entire flap actuator unit because the motor had seized, plus there was a faulty connection in the wiring harness. The original symptoms matched yours, no cooling and error codes on the display. This is actually a known weak point in these models. The repair involved removing parts of the dashboard to access the climate control unit. A diagnostic test confirmed multiple flap actuators were not responding to commands. The main issue was a combination of worn actuator gears and corroded electrical contacts. This is considered a moderate to serious repair since it affects the entire climate control system and requires specialized diagnostic equipment. The system cant operate properly without working actuators to direct airflow. Worth mentioning, make sure they check all actuator motors and electrical connections, not just the one showing the error code. The complete repair prevents future failures of other actuators that might be starting to wear.
