Stepwgn Overheating Issue

Hey, I'm having a nightmare with my 2015 Honda Stepwgn hybrid! It's got about 92000 km on the clock, and the engine's been overheating like crazy. I suspect the electric fan isn't kicking in as it should. I've checked the fuses and they seem fine, but I'm no mechanic. Any ideas what could be causing this? I'm pulling my hair out here!

Summary of the thread

The 2015 Honda Stepwgn hybrid was experiencing overheating issues, suspected to be due to the electric fan not activating properly. The initial checks on fuses showed no problems. A suggestion was made to inspect the connection to the electric fan motor, as a similar issue was resolved by addressing a loose or corroded plug connection. Upon taking the vehicle to a mechanic, it was confirmed that a corroded plug connection was indeed the cause, and cleaning it resolved the overheating problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar! I've got a Stepwgn too, though not sure if it's the exact same year. I had a similar overheating problem a while back, and it turned out to be a dodgy connection to the electric fan motor. Have you had a look at the cable and plug going to the fan? Give them a wiggle, see if anything changes. A loose connection can cause all sorts of headaches.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'dodgy connection,' do you mean like a visibly broken wire, or just a loose plug? And where exactly is the electric fan motor located? I'm not that experienced with car electrics, so any extra detail would be awesome!

Okay, so by dodgy I mean the plug wasn't fully seated, and there was some corrosion on the pins. The electric fan motor is part of the radiator fan assembly, right behind the radiator itself. Honestly, if you're not confident with car electrics, it might be best to take it to a workshop. Fiddling with the wrong thing could make things worse. They can check the wiring and the fan motor properly.

Thanks so much for the advice! I took it to a local mechanic, and you were spot on – it was a corroded plug connection to the fan motor! They cleaned it up and charged me 95€, and now it's running perfectly again. You saved me a fortune and a lot of stress. Cheers!
