Stepwgn Power Tailgate Hall Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Honda Stepwgn hybrid is experiencing intermittent issues with the power tailgate not opening fully, attributed to a hall sensor fault in the tailgate motor assembly. The problem is suspected to be caused by a defective cable or plug connection. After inspecting the wiring and connections without resolution, a local workshop diagnosed the issue as a faulty hall sensor, which was then repaired.

Besides the hall sensor fault, there are no other apparent electrical anomalies. Could you elaborate on how you pinpointed the sensor as the definitive cause, and if you recall any specific diagnostic steps you undertook?

Okay, so, I'm no expert, but basically the tailgate would just kinda... stop. Real annoying. Took it to the shop and they plugged in their fancy gear. They said it was def the sensor playing up, messing with the whole automatic tailgate system. I'd say get it checked, could save you some headaches!

I inspected the wiring and connections thoroughly, but it did not resolve the issue. A local workshop diagnosed a faulty hall sensor within the tailgate motor. The repair, including parts and labor, cost 95€.

I think I know what you're talking about! I had something kinda similar happen with my Stepwgn, though the specifics sound a little different. Was it throwing any other weird electrical gremlins? For me, it was totally the sensor, but tracing the wires is a good call.
