Stilo Air Valve Issue
Summary of the thread
The initial concern involves a 2007 Fiat Stilo with a check engine light on, suspected to be related to the air valve system. A potential defect, specifically a crack in the hose from the pump to the valve, is identified as a possible cause. The rough idling and occasional stalling of the engine suggest an air leak affecting the fuel mixture. The recommended solution is to have the cracked hose inspected and replaced at a workshop.

Thanks. The engine does idle rough, and it has stalled sometimes, especially when decelerating. The defect is a crack in the hose, near the connection to the air valve. Can you give me more specific guidance on which vacuum lines to inspect?

Okay, rough idle and stalling definitely points to an air leak. Since you've already found a crack in the hose to the air valve, that's probably it. Honestly, with a crack like that, you're probably better off just getting it sorted at a workshop. Save yourself the hassle.

I appreciate your insights. I'll have it inspected and the hose replaced at a workshop. The estimated repair cost is about 175€. Thanks again for confirming my suspicions.

Hey, I had a similar problem with my Fiat Stilo. Does the engine idle rough, or does it ever stall? Could be an air leak messing with the fuel mixture. Check all the vacuum lines too, not just the big hose to the air valve. Where exactly did you see the defect? Is it cracked or just loose?
