Stilo Preheating Lamp and Check Engine Light
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Fiat Stilo diesel owner experienced issues with the preheating lamp not switching off, the check engine light being on, and smoke during acceleration. The problem was suspected to be related to the glow control unit, with corrosion on cables and plugs noted. After consulting with others and visiting a workshop, it was confirmed that a defective cable/plug connection to the glow control unit was the cause, and the issue was resolved.

Misfiring? Not really, but it feels sluggish. Did you figure out what was causing it on yours?

Yeah, it turned out to be a defective connection to the glow control unit as well. If you have doubts about the diagnosis I would suggest going to a workshop and having a diagnostic test done.

Thanks for the help! I took it to the workshop, and you were right. It was a defective cable/plug connection to the glow control unit. Cost me 95€ to fix. Appreciate the advice!

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Stilo. Was the engine misfiring at all?
