Interesting analogy. Did you try fixing it yourself, or did you go straight to a professional? Was the replacement easy, or did it need special tools or programming?

I initially thought it might be a simple fix, like on my motorcycle. However, after struggling to open the key fob without damaging it, I decided to visit a workshop. Turned out the battery was a specific type, and they had the right tools to replace it and clear the error code. Less of a headache than potentially breaking the key.

Thanks for the insight. I'll be careful and see a technician about the battery. It ended up costing 37€, a small price to pay to not damage the key.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar experience with my 2016 Opel Corsa. 'Key battery low' warning appeared, then keyless entry died, and eventually, unlocking the car became a real chore. Could be the cold weather affecting the battery's performance, like squeezing the last bit of juice from a lemon.
