Strada Reduced Engine Power
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Fiat Strada diesel with 160,294 km is experiencing reduced engine power and a persistent check engine light. The initial suspicion was a throttle valve issue, but further discussion suggested the accelerator pedal module might be the cause. After professional diagnostics, it was confirmed that the accelerator pedal module was defective, and replacing it resolved the power issue and turned off the check engine light.

Thanks for the tip! The accelerator pedal module, you say? I haven't checked that specifically. How did you figure out that was the problem? And now that you mention it, the fuel efficiency has been terrible lately. Also, where exactly is that module located? Is it something I can check myself, or am I better off taking it to a mechanic?

Well, I initially suspected the throttle body, but after some diagnostics, the mechanic pointed to the accelerator pedal module. Apparently, the electronics inside were defective. Given your symptoms and the fuel efficiency drop, it's worth investigating. Honestly, unless you're comfortable with car electronics, I'd recommend getting it checked professionally. Could save you a lot of hassle and potential damage.

You were spot on! Took it to the workshop, and they confirmed it was the accelerator pedal module. Replacement cost me 265€. Engine power is back, and the check engine light is gone! Thanks so much for your help; I really appreciate it!

I had a similar problem with my Strada, although it was a while ago. Reduced power and the check engine light are classic symptoms. Have you checked the accelerator pedal module or the electronics related to it? That was the culprit in my case. It might be causing issues with the air flow and messing with the engine idling. What's your fuel efficiency like?
