Strange Brake Pedal Feedback on Formentor

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the brake pads myself, but the car is making some noise when braking, like squeaky brakes. Could low brake fluid really cause that weird pedal feel? I thought that only affected braking power, not the feedback itself. What else could cause this undervoltage?

The squeaky brakes do suggest inspecting the brake pads. Yes, low brake fluid or old brake fluid can sometimes cause unusual pedal feel, as the system relies on hydraulic pressure. However, the undervoltage issue you mentioned is a strong possibility, especially with modern cars that rely on electronic brake force distribution. I'd recommend having a qualified mechanic diagnose the electrical system and check the brakes thoroughly.

Just wanted to let you know, the workshop visit confirmed your suspicions. Undervoltage was indeed interfering with the braking system. The electrical problem is now resolved, and I also had the brake pads replaced and the brake fluid flushed while it was in. Total cost was 240€. The strange brake pedal feedback is now gone! Thanks so much for the assistance.

Strange brake pedal feedback on a Formentor could be due to a few things. With that mileage, have you checked the condition of your brake pads and metal brakes? Squeaky brakes can also indicate worn brake pads. When was the brake fluid last changed? These systems are interconnected, and a seemingly small issue can manifest in unexpected ways.
