Stream electronic parking brake failure
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Honda Stream owner is experiencing a complete failure of the electronic parking brake, with an error stored and a warning light illuminated. The suspected cause is a defective electric motor in the brake calliper. Another individual with a similar issue confirmed that the problem was indeed the motor, suggesting professional repair as the solution. The owner followed this advice, resulting in a confirmed diagnosis and repair.

Thanks for your reply! It seems to have happened spontaneously. I parked the car, engaged the handbrake as usual, and when I returned, it refused to disengage. Did you manage to resolve the issue yourself, or did you have to seek professional help?

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to fix it myself. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was the electric motor in the calliper. It's apparently a common problem. I would suggest doing the same, as brake issues are not something to play around with.

I appreciate the advice! I took it to my mechanic and the diagnosis was exactly as you and I suspected: defective motor in the brake calliper. The repair cost came to 505€. Thanks again for sharing your experience; it helped me prepare for the inevitable workshop visit.

I had a similar problem with my Stream a while back. Same symptoms – electronic handbrake kaput, error codes popping up. It was incredibly frustrating. Was there any specific event that triggered this, or did it just happen out of the blue?
